Is Unrip free?

Yes. Building a Wantlist, calculating what it would cost to buy, and watching for a price drop are all free, and there is no paid tier.

Unrip may earn a commission when you buy through some of its links to shops and marketplaces. That commission never influences which copies it includes or recommends — the same listing wins whether or not it pays us.

Do I buy from Unrip?

No. Unrip helps you decide what to buy and where. You buy from the shop or marketplace itself, and they handle payment, delivery, returns and refunds.

We never see your card, and we never take your money.

Why did I get three separate orders instead of one?

Because that is usually what makes it cheap. Two records bought from one seller travel in one parcel and share one shipping cost, so a seller with a slightly higher price on one record can still give you a lower total.

Unrip looks for the combination with the lowest delivered total across every seller it can see. Sometimes that is one order; more often it is two or three. Each one is placed separately, at that seller’s own checkout.

Which marketplaces do you search?

Right now, Discogs and eBay. HHV and Rarewaves are not being searched yet.

We would rather tell you that than imply a wider search than we are actually running. When a marketplace isn’t being checked, Unrip says so on the screen where it changes the answer, so you always know whether a cheaper copy might exist somewhere we didn’t look.

How old are the prices I’m seeing?

Unrip checks prices for the records on your Wantlist about once a day, and every result tells you exactly how old the oldest price in it is — for example, “Prices checked 8 hours ago.”

Records you have just added take a few minutes to check for the first time. A listing can always sell or change price before you get to it, so the seller’s checkout is where you confirm the copy is still there and what it really costs.

Can I use Unrip outside the United States?

You can use it, but it will not be much help yet. Unrip only works out shipping costs for delivery within the United States, and shipping is a large part of what it is comparing.

Will you email me?

No. Unrip sends no email beyond what you need to use your account — no digests, no marketing, no “we miss you” messages.

The only alerts are browser notifications, on browsers where you have explicitly turned them on. Nothing is watched unless you turn it on, and making an account never subscribes you to anything.

Do you store my Spotify or Discogs password?

No. Connecting an account uses that service’s own sign-in page, and Unrip never sees the password. What it receives is a token that lets it read your saved albums or your Wantlist, stored encrypted.

You can disconnect either account at any time in Settings, which removes that access.

What do VG+ and NM mean?

They are condition grades. Near Mint is nearly perfect; Very Good Plus has light signs of use that should not affect play. The record and its sleeve are graded separately, so read both.

Why does one of my records say it needs a match?

Unrip could not confidently tell which album it is — usually a reissue, a compilation, or a title that several artists have used.

It will not guess, because guessing would mean pricing the wrong record. Choose the right one and it joins the next price check.
